Materials Needed for Training
Uniform and Sparring Gear
Students are not required to have a uniform until they are planning to test for their next belt, or compete at a tournament. When you order a uniform, please make sure it is a white traditional karate uniform as seen in the above picture the new uniform will come with a white belt.
Sparring gear is required for anyone that intends to test for orange belt and above. The gear should look the same or similar to the image above. Students can also buy rib gear and it is recommended that they also buy a groin protector for males under the age of 18.
Training Equipment
Weapons are typically used for kata; however, there are several instances when we will drill applications for self defense, theory, and other training purposes.
Nunchaku, Bo Staff and Escrima sticks are recommended for lower levels.
Intermediate levels will be required to learn Kama, Sai, or Tonfa.
Advanced Levels are allowed to begin learning Katana. Students are eligible to start learning katana at the discretion of the instructors.
